It is a bit hard to believe that water will get in to a unit and then work normally for a week. The refrigerant pressure on the low side will still be above atmospheric, even in the coldest weather. If it went below atmospheric pressure, then it was not running normally. Few units are now made without protective devices to sense refrigerant mischarges.
