Water damage to floor under front of tub

Posted by ErikG on August 27th, 1998 01:02 PM

Water damage to the floor under the front of my tub is
giving me fits. The damage was orginally caused by a
leaking faucet and my own carelessness in closing the
shower curtain. I've fixed that, but the "spongy"
floor remains. The problem now is that the caulk where
the tubs meets the front wall continually pulls away
from the tub. I re-caulk. It pulls away. I recaulk.
It pulls away. Well you get the picture.

Does anybody know of a very elastic caulk that would
give a little more (1/16" over a 1/4" bead) or should
I bite the bullet, pull the tub, and fix the floor
properly? Obviously I'm hoping for the first option.
If you think the second option is the only way to go,
then any advice you could give would be helpful.
