Four years ago I did a lot of research on water softners.I purchased a Water Boss from Lowes Home Center for $498.00. It was one of the few that offered a self cleaning iron filter built in.Was very easy to install and program. On line as well as phone help is available. This softner has worked very well for me with zero problems. It is a lot more user friendly than a lot of units on the market. I figure for the price I am money shead if I had to replace it every 9 or 10 years.I have worked on a lot of softners of all brands and this is the easiest and simpilest one to maintain and repair if required that I have ran across.Important thing is to get water analyzed and buy softner to match your hardness.Follow manu.recomendations for maintaining the unit and you should have few problems with most well known brands.Of course you have to go a long ways to beat Water Boss.
