Waste Vent

Posted by BobB on December 26th, 2001 08:25 AM

The only waste vent on my ranch style home is in the vicinity of the bathrooms on the west end of the house. The kitchen / garb. disp. / laundry drains on the opposite end of the house were never connected to a vent. They connect directly to the sewer line below the basement floor slab. It's been this way since day one, 50 + years ago. The only problems I have noticed is the occasional sucking dry of the traps on connected drains. Now I am faced with dissassembling some of the main drain connections due to a garb. disp. caused blockage. The $ 64 K question ...... while I am at it, is there some kind of a retrofit pseudo vent I can install on this side of the house, without running a pipe all of the way through the kitchen walls and the attic and roof?
