we recently moved into a house and our clothes washer drain pipe backs up when the washer drains. I don't believe the drain line is cloged because I ran a snake about thirty feet down and didn't get blocked or anything. the pipe is only about 24 inches long above the p-trap and I am thinking that isn't long enough. basically the setup I have is 24 inches of pipe to p-trap come out of p-trap 12 inches across to drain line going down and vent going up and then it drops into the floor. I assume that after going into the floor it makes a ninety and shoots directly out of the house with the other drains. the washer is in the basement area of the house. Any Ideas? Thanks
