warped floor trusses

Posted by b weller on January 20th, 2002 06:27 PM

we own a split foyer home on which both levels are finished. we have webbed floor trusses that are warped or crowned up about 3/4". this has caused squeaks and is very noticeable in the floor coverings, both carpet and linoleum. while there are no cracks in tyhe foundation or cracks in the drywall this is a problem that we want get fixed. from our furnace room iwhen on a step ladder you can see the deflection in the bottom cord of the trusses. my solution is to tear out the drywall ceilings, brace the bottom of the trusses, cut the bottom cords then back off the bracing till the floor is leveled out. then use 1/2" plywood and glue and nail it to both sides of the trusses. then of course rerock the ceiling. any suggestions would be appreciated
