Walls are 3/4" out from old house

Posted by Ike Ruckman on November 17th, 2001 04:28 PM

We have added a room to the back of our house. We just supported the ceiling/roof joists and tore out the wall. We found that the new wall's surface is 3/4" further out than the old one. I had thought about doubling the drywall, but that presents a problem with the just delivered cabinets. I have a window about 3' on each side of the junction of the old and new. though I want the wall surface to be the same, I am installing a Laminated beam where the old wall was. My best option seems to cut down the 2x4's in the old room and transition slowly to the window in the old portion. Any better ideas?
