wallpaper removal

Posted by Monica Lucas on October 6th, 2001 09:43 PM

My aunt is trying to remove some old wallpaper from a wall in her bedroom. The wallpaper is very ol at least 10-15 years old maybe more. We've tried alot of products from our Home Depot store esp DIF in many different forms, liquid, gel & concentrate & it does not seem to be working. Yes, we are scoring the paper first.
What seems to be happening is that the paper tears and does not peel off- as well as the outer layer of the (dry) wall seems to be coming off as well.
My question is do you have any ideas to get the rest of the paper off? More easily? & How do I repair the wall before painting or putting new paper on?
I am asking as a favor as I have been trying to help her out & we are hopeless. We are redoing the bedroom & have bought new furniture only to delay the delivery a few months now.
