We had the same problems. What an interior decorator suggested to us, that worked better than DIF was Dawn Dish Soap. You use VERY HOT water like Jay J said, and then a really good squirt to about a quart of water. Exact measurements not necessary. We own a Kirby vaccuum that has a paint sprayer attachment. We used that, soaked it for about 5 - 10 min, not too long, then used paint scrapers to scrap it off. If it had a vinyl, fabric, grass-like surface we tried to peel that away first then spray. We had a house full and its finally done. Persevere, it will come down. Also, when the paper is down don't forget to get all of the glue off before repairing the drywall etc. Spraying with Dawn again helps. Sometimes the glue was worse than the paper.
