Wall tile problem

Posted by Alicia K on March 23rd, 2000 09:35 PM

Our bathroom walls are mostly tile. We had to put in a new sink, which is lower than the old one, and some of the tiles are cracked. We bought the tiles to replace those that are cracked. The problem is that we can not get these old cracked tiles off of the wall. They were put on a long time ago and whoever did it cemeted them to the wall. We have tried using a chisel, but this breaks off little pieces at a time and could take forever, plus when we get near the edges it starts to break the tiles surrounding the broken ones. We do not have the money to redo the whole bathroom, nor the time to retile the entire wall. Is there an easier way to get these tiles off without breaking the intact tiles surrounding the broken ones?
