Vinyl Siding vs Aluminum Siding Energy Savings

My question is this. Does viynl siding lend any more or less energy efficiency then aluminum oor steel siding. Why I ask this is that the combosition of steel and aluminum absorb heat and cold and retain that heat and cold for a much longer time, thus I would think that in the summer your aluminum or steel siding is hot to the touch therefor heating up your house more and requiring more AC and vice versa in the summer. Vinyl doesn't seem absorb and maintain heat and cold the same as the steel or aluminum. This became curious of this because I am replacing aluminum siding on my home and I remmember that in the summer when the sun beats down on it it became almost to hot to touch. Does anyone have any comments on this philosophy or do I need a education?
