Actually, it is quite easy. look on the bottom of the blinds and you will see "buttons" where the strings come through the bottom. Pry the buttons loose and the strings will be there. Carefully cut the bottom knots and CAREFULLY pull the slats out one at a time until you are at the right length. I say Carefully, because if you go too far, I don't know if you can put them back. When you have done enough, re-insert the strings into the holes of the bottom board of the blinds and stuff them inside and put the buttons back on. I've done it many times. I know it's scary, but hey go for it. We gals have to stick together. Good Luck!
