vent hood over gas stove

Joe is right about the purpose for the vent hood and about the cost of using gas versus electicity for the stove, stay with the gas. I am surprise you have no ventilation of your stove top smoke currently ..please be more specific on your you have downdraft system that sucks smoke from cooking down and out a side mounted exterior vent or do you have one of those over the stove vents that filters it through odor filter and dumps it back into the house. bottom line though is you need to have an overhead vent or downdraft vent to vent smoke humidity or odors out of the house when cooking Post back with more info on your specific situation please.
