Veneer Plaster Finishing

Posted by Pat Rothe on February 14th, 2000 03:39 PM

I have a 8 year old home with Veneer plaster on the walls with what I think is called both Spanish and Swirl techniques. I have just added pocket doors between two rooms and I need to match the finish from the surrounding walls. From this message board I was able to find out the steps to add the plaster to the drywall but what I'm trying to find is how to match the swirl surface. It looks like sand textured paint except the sand was "dragged" across the surface creating scatches on the smooth plaster. Can you recommend a web site, book or describe how to achieve this finish? I have worked a lot with normal drywall joint compound and have recreated the spanish finish in other remodeling projects but for this technique I can't find a good resource.
