We live in Midwest Missouri, own a 1300 sq ft single story home which is in on concrete blocks. Our crawl space is damp, accumulates water when it rains and when we water the the flower beds which are next to the house. We do have a sump pump which extracts the water. We do not have any roited wood (yet).
1. What can be done to try to eliminate the accumulation of water and dampness? The land seems to be sloping away from the house.
2. Someone once recommended we insulate the crawl space in order to help reduce our energy bill. Is this a good idea? Do I need to do something special in order to prevent any mildew?
3. Does the accumulation of water affect the concrete blocks (example deterioration of the blocks?)
