Hi Ira!

I thoroughly agree w/George and Jay.You can't go wrong w/a vapor barrier..and another suggestion..if it's not cost prohibitive ..perhaps consider MR board(green board,blue board).It not only provides an effective vapor barrier the drywall is moisture resistant all the way through and it is designed for high humidity areas,which is characteristic of basements.
