Using Wonderboard as sound insulator in home theatre

Posted by Andre Smith on February 22nd, 2003 05:00 PM

I am planning on building a home theatre in a portion of my unfinished basement and am wondering about using Wonderboard over the 2" X 4" wall framing and ceiling, then covering the Wonderboard with drywall. My reasoning being concrete is a very good acoustic insulator and would using this product help keep my sound levels inside my theatre, thereby not disturbing my wife upstairs while enjoying my action movies at the high volume levels they were meant to be?
