Using a speed square to determine an angle for a stairway railing

Posted by Kim Athanas on April 19th, 2000 08:02 PM

I could use some help please. I need to know how to use a speed square to find the angle for a stair rail. Or, if i'm on the wrong track I'd like some guidance. I have the top and bottom bannisters in place (though can easily remove the bottom one if i've put it in place prematurely). FYI: The railing is being constructed of pressure-treated wood as it is for steps leading to a porch.

Thanks!!!
