OK, so the deck is built! Not bad I must say, for doing it myself.
The problem is the deck ended up coming 3" lower than an existing entry way into the house.
Visual: The house has a side door, facing the driveway. To get to the door one goes up 3 steps, walks along a 10' "deck" and opens the door. I call it a "deck" because the previous owners built a PT deck type of thing over existing concrete steps. Where the 3 steps are is the end of the house. This is also where the new deck starts.
What I would like to do is extend the existing steps and deck out further along the new deck. This way, someone coming in from the driveway would be able to walk in the house or take a left and go onto the deck, through a gate in the railing.
Now for the question: Do I need to get the two deck levels to match? The deck that was there is 3" higher than the new deck. My concern is a trip-hazzard if I keep it at the 3" level.
Sorry to be so confusing, just wanted to paintthe best picture possible.
