Normally there is a Allen wrench hole in the bottom of the disposal that is attached to the shaft of the disposal motor. If you use an allen wrench you can turn the motor back and forth and loosen the item stuck in the disposal. Then you can reach down (after shutting off power) into the disposal and remove whatever is in there. If the disposal still humms the brushes have gone bad or the berings are shot...time to replace.
