Rodger, you have to adjust the birds mouth (or seat cut if it's a close cornice) to raise or lower the rafter top (depending on whether the pitch is greater or lesser) until it is even with the tops of the rafters of the other section. You will also have to adjust the plancer cut for equal facia width (this will show unless you have a closed cornice). Lastly, the hip rafter needs unequal bevels on top to match the unequal pitches. When you finally get this right, you might want to sign you name to it, it will look more like a work of modern art than a building member. Good luck.
