If this is an old one with 2 screw terminals then I used to use a couple of coat hangers and then attach a "fan" made from tin foil sheets around a foot long or more. It helped some. It will help in Denver and maybe Boulder, Colo Springs, or Fort Collins but don't expect much help in the mountains. If it has 2 screw terminals for a UHF antenna next to the VHF terminals then use 1 coat hanger to make a wire in a circle shape with each end attached to a terminal to get any UHF signals. If it has a coax connecter then you need an adapter anyway so go buy an antenna as Henry suggested. I didn't know there were still kids nowadays who would "rough it" without cable. Congrats. Surely someone has parents who would spring for cable or split it up among the four of you. Avoid eating out once a month will save enough for basic cable.
