Hi Jason, interesting question. Believe it or not
I watch no TV. --Haven't owned a TV in about 15
years. I could go on regarding why I feel
television is unsuitable, but basically I believe
that television, in a subtle way, causes people
to conform to certain ways of thinking that aren't
necessarily good. Or put another way, it dampens
one's ability to see the world on their own terms.
Makes people lots more fearful also. Again the
effects of TV are very subtle, but gradually
cumulative in the long run. I used to resent my
dad because he limited the family's TV time when
we were kids, but I thank him now. Ironically he
has become a TV addict in his old age. What else
is there to do?--is what he says. I always tell him
that the world's a big place.
