remove all metal hardware and soak in mineral spirits for de greasing and cleaning of the workings. Then air dry and spray workings with WD 40.

Wood work, I would use something like an Orange Product, or Green Product. TSP might do things to the wood that you are not wanting. Its pretty strong for this.

Soap and warm water will do the same. Be sure to remove all the residue before priming.
