trusses causing shrinking

Posted by M Hardin on February 8th, 2000 09:57 AM

I own a one level brick home with approximately 1400 square
feet of living space. The house is about 15 years old and
I have owned for about 6 years. During the winter the
ceiling and the walls in the kitchen, hall, hall bathroom
and the bedroom across from the hall bathroom seperate from
each other in places and then go back together in the
summer. This problem has gotten progressively worse in
the past two years. It is as the trusses in the attic are
pulling the ceiling up. I am sure it is not the floor
sinking. The main areas affected are in the center of
the house. A person at Lowe's said this was common and the
trusses were made to do this. I'm not convinced this is
correct and even if he is correct, is still very unsitely.
