trivial curiosity

Hi guys. Ain't it interesting how the regional differences and different experiences come together here? A couple items come to mind:
It seems odd to see people commenting on sound board as though it was a relatively rare item. Around here it is quite common, with several brands and types available at almost every lumberyard or home center.

On the other hand, I see frequent references to 1/4" drywall. Interesting. In 33 yrs in the bldg trades, many 100's of job sites, lumber yards, home centers, I've never seen it. Closest I know of is 3/8" factory prefinished stuff you sometimes see in mobile homes. I have a hard time imagining that it works very well. Tell me about it, how it performs, how do you even carry it?
Anyway, this is the kind of stuff that helps make this site so interesting. Thanks.
