Trimming Replacement Doors

Posted by skip on February 5th, 2003 01:41 PM

I'm replacing interior hollow core slab doors with hollow core 6 panel doors and have to trim about 3/8 off the width. Does it make any difference whether I take it off the hinge or the latch side?

Also when trimming such as above, with a rotary hand saw and using masking tape on both sides, is there less chance for splintering to have the depth of the blade at it's greatest possible extent or set so it just barely goes through the door?
