Trimming a door.

Posted by Ed on October 18th, 2000 07:32 PM

I would like to trim a hollow core door, and according to the manufacturer, the maximum trim allowance per side is 1/8", and what I really need is 1/4" per side.
I was curious if anyone had any idea how much stock is standard on the outside edge of a door, and if the manufacturers normal allowance is on the conservative side. I know that this would void any waranty I had on the door, but a special ordered door for the size I need would run somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 to 8 times the normal price for this door.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
