I was just told by a good friend who works for a major landscaping co. that a nation wide class action suit has been filed and accepted by an east coast court. YEAH!! Finally a light at the end of the tunnel and an end to repeated cleaning/scrubbing/treating of our "maintence free" deck material! I feel like I wasted and extra $975.00 on a poorly manufactured and misrepresented product!!(this was the cost difference between a cedar deck and Trex) This ........ of being told to SEAL a product advertised as "never seal your deck again", should be evidence enough to prove fraud! I told the rep who called me that I would love to receive their cleaning and treatment kit along with instructions and any literature they can provide regarding this issue; and to please send 2 copies so I can give it to our lawyer!
WARNING: I was also told NOT to - NOT TO - pressure wash this product as this will only force more moisture deeper into the boards and make the mold and deterioration worse and FASTER! And that I should not seal it either, but do the "basic routine care" (i.e. wash with recommeded cleaner - NOT SCRUB or pressure wash!) and take photos before and after every time to show that we are "doing basic maintainence" to no avail. {it was quoted from the Trex rep that "Don't you have to wash your vinyl flooring and it is a maintanence free product?!" } And If you seal it you will have no case against Trex because you will not be able to prove "damage or defect" as the sealant will stop/stunt any further deterioration and molding.
Good luck to all other VERY FRUSTRATED AND ANGERY Trex customers! I hope we are all able to recoup our extra expenses and then some for the lies and aggrevation we have had to endure. I will share any further info I receive...Anyone else who can help....PLEASE RESPOND!! Missrush
