I've just joined this forum because I have had a similar problem with Trex. I live in Chicago and my 3 year old Trex deck has severe mold problems. Three months ago, I cleaned the deck per the mold/mildew removal instructions from Trex and within 5 weeks the mold was back.
I contacted Trex which sent me a customer service package. As requested I provided pictures and answered questions and sent the package back to Trex. Three weeks later, Brenda Reynolds, called back and offered to clean the deck without charge using a product Trex and another company jointly developed to remedy this problem. Brenda was nice and seemed informed about the problem. She stated that mold was growing on my deck. The solution would be a good cleaning and then application of a mold/mildew prevention product. She would not say that this fixed the problem for good but she stated that this worked well for other Trex owners.
I told her that I would consider her offer but did not want to waive my rights to any future legal action or future cleanings. She agreed.
I am now in the process to arrange the cleaning with a Trex representative in the Chicago area.
I've contacted the law offices initiating the class action against Trex but haven't received any response in the past 2 weeks. Maybe the lawyer isn't interested. Did anyone ever receive any information from the lawyer?
