You are indeed right, it would be too heavy to be mounted on stud work, although I would say that it might be possible to mount it in a timber bourd, via bolts (you can get some nice looking bolts in most hardware stores) which in turn is mouted on your stud wall. The law of averages suggests that you will almost certainly miss the timber studs when drilling and have to try to support the towel rail on a flimsy plasterboard surface. Hope this helps
