Hey Jay, first let me apoligize for being so short, I gotta take my anger out on somebody...

My point was that mills generaly don't stock soft maple for flooring, and there are some mills that do (your links), in my area (TN) I have not seen any, and I still say that a mill (if you pay them) will cut and mill any tree you want, but as for buying maple vs. oak, the soft issue probably wouldn't even come up.

And Henry, if you read this, I can tell you that hard maple is next to impossible to stain, soft maple though, if that's what you put in, is a "softer" wood and would sand and stain easier, and my apoligies to you also fr my shortness.
