torque wrench warranty?

recently i had gone to a local sears store,i had a torque wrench(craftsman digitork)that became defective, now when i bought this wrench i was under the assumption that this was covered like any other craftsman wrench, being that it is a hand tool!there is nothing pneumatic or electric about it.I could understand if it were an air tool or say an electric drill, but a torque wrench?I bought numerous tools and have recently purchased two roll away boxes (all craftsman). If these wrenches are not covered why are they shown with wrenchs that are covered? does this make sense? If these tools have a tail light warranty it should say so on the package or something easily visible so others don't fall into the same situation.I was very dissappointed about this situation and am considering mac or snap on as options.
