Too Many layers of alligator paint

Yes Max, I know what you mean. The alligator hide look is good on alligators and boots, but not on your house. I hesitate to recommend it, because it is a lot of slow tedious work, but a method which I used on the west end of our 50's ranch was to melt/burn the old paint off. You then get a fresh start which you can sand/ prime/ paint. I have read that you can spackle fill the cracks to level them, but whenever I've tried that on a smaller scale, it always took several coats to allow for the shrinkage.

Short of covering your Victorian with plastic ( a sacrilidge to most ) I don't know of any other choices.
