Tongue-and-groove panelling

Posted by Sonja on October 30th, 2002 12:36 AM

We recently bought a property with a cabin look. Problem is the previous owner covered almost all the walls with tongue-and-groove wood. Someone told us it is fir. Some of the strips run two stories high in one piece - apparently very hard to find these days. I would like to change some of the walls, but would like to know what I can do without spoiling the existing wood, should the next owner like the wood. I was wondering whether wallpaper would do the least damage. The wood is natural, no stain or varnish, so I am thinking that paint will probably damage it. Please help! This dark dungeon is very depressing. Thank you very much!
