toilet drain pipe

Posted by Dave in Illinois on December 23rd, 1999 03:25 PM

I did some work in the bathroom and had to remove the toilet, I noticed that the bolts used to hold it down were in bad shape so I chose to replace them. However, the drain pipe that the toilet sits on was in bad shape also. It is a cast iron pipe that is all bent up and the bolts will not hold against the pipe very securely. I was able to attach the bolts very carefully but I think I will need to do something else with it down the road. What I was thinking of doing was just replacing the top of the pipe with a pvc pipe that I have seen in the hardware store and the bolts just kinda slide into little slots in the rim of the pipe. Is there a way to attach a new pvc rim to this cast iron pipe without having to tear out the whole pipe. It looks like I should be able to somehow attach this new rim but I have never done it before. Thank for any help
