Hi", Kevin, Myself, I would let it be free standing
( you your self have answerd a question) " pin the foundation
to prevent sinking," ok, what you are realy doing is putting
a dead weight onto one side of the foundation of your house
This is why I say free standing, if there is any movement it will
not do any damage to your house, build your new foundation right
next to the old foundation but not into it,
Dont forget your house has now settled and wont move anymore, but
the new foundation "may" move and that is where you will have the problem
