I am an engineer and I can tell you from experience that TJI floor joists are not very good they creep and cause your floor to sag within a couple of years even if you use more than you need too the creeping of these joists is inevitable and has to do with when they are loaded

The formaldahyde is not a problem and only becomes a problem is it becomes air borne and is inhaled or ingested the only thing to worry about is when your contractor cuts or sands the material
