We looked into doing the same thing in our kitchen, but went instead with pine. I laid a pine floor in our home and had enough left over to do the job. We are though using pressed tin to cover the firdown and as a backsplash. I purchased the tin from Chelsea Decorative Metal (713) 721-9200 in Houston. They sell 2' x 4' sheets for 18.00/sheet. they also will help you lay out your ceiling and have additional trim. You might want to check them out.
Good luck in your project!
