timber subfloor, floating floor on top?

Posted by karen on July 24th, 2001 05:57 PM

We have a timber subfloor covered in masonite sheeting, the subfloor being second hand, is way too much work to repair and restore (the experts say it would be cheaper to lay a new floor. We are wondering if anybody has layed a new wooden floor over a subfloor, and how thick does the timber floor have to be (ie solid timber). Or if we should consider a floating timber laminate floor. I would much rather solid timber personally.
