In reply to CERAMIC TILE FLOOR PREPARATION by LARRY GILLOCK @ PREMIERE ENTERPRISES OSCODA,MI on November 25th, 1999 10:38 AM [Go to top of thread]

I plan to install tile on my basement floor this weekend. When the house was constructed, the concrete in the basement was finsihed and "polished." Unfortunately, the floor had to be cut in order to install underground plumbing for the bathroom's exit lines. The floor was then repoured to fill in the cuts. The newly poured concrete does not sit level with the originally poured concrete. I have estimated the discrepancy to be about 1/32 of an inch, at most. My questions are as follows:

1. In light of such a minimal discrepancy, is it necessary for the newly poured concrete to sit absolutely level with the originally poured concrete?

2. What will happen if place the tile over the "unevenly" poured concrete?
