tile & tile sealant in the bathroom

Posted by James Jacobberger on January 21st, 2002 09:54 AM

We had our bathroom redone with new walls, floor, and new tile on both. Our water has a high iron content and we want to avoid future rust stains followed by removal of rust stains with phosphoric acid and grout deterioration (which may have contributed to the reason for redoing the bathroom in the first place).

I was thinking of applying a silicone-based grout sealant but am worried that this will yellow and/or for unkown reasons (unknown to me) is not the best thing, since the contractor didn't seal it. (Since, the grout needs to aged for 28 days, maybe time is on his side vis-a-vis any need to do this.) Please advise.
