This Is What I Used

I did the same to my basement. After I dug out the floor, I lined the trench with a filter fabric, laid a few inches of 1 inch stone, laid the pipe and then filled the trench the rest of the way with the 1 inch gravel. The pipe went to a sump pit and PRESTO!, a dry basement.(or nearly dry anyways).

Now, as far as the type of pipe, I used the flexible stuff. I have had no problems with it and it works just fine. I do not know if one kind is better than the other, I have seen both used and I am sure they both will do the same job. The main reason I went with the flexible was it was a few dollars cheaper and the rigid 10 foot pipe would not fit in the trunk of my car!!

Best of luck. Dave
