And is usually caused by the water slamming back on the outlet check valve. The check valve you have is probably the flapper type. As the water starts to fall back to the sump when the motor shuts off, the flapper slams shut and causes the noise. Two possible solutions, one is to remove the check. This will cause some water to flow backwards back into the sump, but if the pipe run is short, the amount of water going back to the sump is minimal. The other method would be to replace the flapper type check with a ball type check. The ball check is faster to close, and should minimize if not eliminate the noise.
