Sherryl, I have a similar thermostat, and your new one should also have the R to Rc jumper, but that will not have anything to do with the heat not shutting off. You might try running a hairdryer held a few feet away from the thermostat, but pointed to blow warm air across it, and watch to see if it registers the temperature change. You may have a faulty thermostat. If the heat is coming on, it should be going off, too.
