that you can buy that costs about $10 that you can plug into any outlet and it registers polarity. I know very little about electricity, but carry one of these around with me to all jobs.

Has anyone done any electrical repairs recently to your home that could have done this?

Again speculating, you could have a small ampherage breaker that is handling your micro wave that when it comes on it is pushing that breakers capacity and you are getting surges.

There will be much more experienced people to answer this post soon. Wanted to throw some basics out to you.
