Hi Joel,

Go ahead and spackle the hole. I did exactly what Dave 225 described last Fall. Plan on at least a couple of coats of spackle. Be sure to prime/seal the new compound TWICE (for a little 'insurance') before you put your top-coat of paint on the wall. If you want to check your work, you can hold a light/lamp (w/o the shade) / or a flashlight right along the wall and shine it 'across' your work on the wall (from a distance of about 3-4 feet) and see if you see any shadows on the 'far side' of your work. If you do, you may need to sand a little more. Of course, this could get real frustrating since the light is unforgiving (since it travles in a VERY straight line, and will show ANY imperfection along the wall!)
