The washboard look

I'd really like to hear if anyone with a lot more experience that I using contact glue has a reason for the washboard look. My guess is that the stickers were put down before the glue was dry enough and that this accounts for a regular pattern. I can't see it either, but it would make sense, particularly if stickers other than dowels or similar, were used. Will the last bit of solvent find its way out from under the laminate, given time? I don't know. But I would give it a bit of time and an occasional bit of massage with a J-roller before tearing everything up.
