state that your odds of it staying on are much better with vinyl paper due to its texture and better quality and special glue required.

The old paper that you see around is not a good idea at all. This is where most of the paint release occurs.

I always err on the side of caution on this topic because like you, it stayed on, but others it may not and some would like to know up front that this may occur.
