The key to the success of this vehicle for exchanging information is the people who respond.
The valueable resource that this board has is the people who read the posts and respond with expert professional advice and information.
This format makes it easier to read the recently posted questions and respond. Without that, the board will die!
There are great search mechanisms that could be used to categorize posts into nice little database categories. However, your valuable resource, the people with the knowledge to answer peoples question, cannot be troubled to hunt for peoples problems in many separate categories.
With the chronological one-category board, people can read through all of the recent questions and may have advice based on a similar problem of there own. You need to cater to the usability of the posters who supply the answers.
You could set up a database of older posts with answers by category but keep the last 6 months chronological.
To really help this board change the intro message at the top:
1. Tell people to be specific when asking a questions so that the "experts" can better help them. 2. Tell people how to search through the posts with the "Find in Page" option under the "Edit" pull down window. They can look for similar questions to their own. 3. Twll them that Bob is not here.
Thank you for your consideration. Let's keep this valuable tool useable for the "experts" as well as the "questioners"
